A promotional video for the second season of the Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai anime: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunōsen, based on the manga of the same name by Aka Akasaka, was revealed. The official name of this new season is Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai? Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunōsen.

The first season premiered on January 12 and this new season will keep the cast and staff of the first. Meanwhile, Akasaka started the series in Shueisha's Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015. He later moved to the Young Jump of the same publisher in March 2016.

The manga inspired two spinoffs. The first manga Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Dōjin-ban of Shinta Sakayama, was released on the Tonari no Young Jump website of Shueisha on June 14, 2018. The second Kaguya-sama or Kataritai by G3 Ida was launched in the Young Jump on July 26 of the same year.
