Kingdom anime will have a third season

Through an official statement it was reported that Yasuhisa Hara's manga anime adaptation, Kingdom will have a third season to be released in April 2020.

Hara will oversee the project that will feature a new production team, different from the one that worked in the previous two seasons. For his part, the author publishes the manga in the Weekly Young Jump magazine of the Shueisha publishing house since January 2006, and the publisher has published 55 compilation volumes to date.



The manga was already adapted to anime by Pierrot studios. The first season premiered in June 2012 and had 38 episodes, while the second premiered in June 2013 and had 39 episodes. A live-action movie adaptation premiered last April.

Synopsis
During the "Warring States" period in Ancient China (421-221 BC), Shin and Hyou are orphans of war in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of one day testing themselves on the battlefield.

However, one day Hyou is taken to the palace by a minister. Ending on the losing side of a power struggle, Hyou manages to return to his village, barely alive. Shin, on the other hand, meets a boy very similar to Hyou, called Ei Sei, who, for now, is the king of Qin, and who in the future will become Emperor Shi Huangdi.
